ST. GEORGE, UTAH -- For the fourth consecutive season, Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club hosted the final Utah Golf Foundation (UGF) Veterans on Course (VOC) event of the 2019 season. Thirteen events were hosted from Logan Country Club down to Entrada, making 2019 the year of the highest number of VOC events.
Entrada was a beautiful as ever, and the weather could not have been better. Registration for the event opened on October 5th for a maximum of 60 participants, male or female, from all branches of military. It filled in six days, and more than half the field was from Southern Utah.
Entrada Head Golf Prefessional Andrew Hopkins Payne and Dixie State University Golf Coach Brad Sutterfield taught the lessons on the putting green, and PGA Professionals Doug Roberts and Zach Kelley manned the driving range station. The VOC participants visited each station for 30 minutes.
Following the lessons, the players teed off Entrada's front nine for the nine-hole scramble tournament. The fousome of Gardner, Lambert, Larsen, and Tyndall took home the W at six-under 29! The champs birdied their last three holes to secure the victory.
John Gale and Jim Peacock each won a closest-to-the-hole contest. In fact, Gale was only a few inches away from a hole in one!
The event concluded in the banquet room with a delicious fajita dinner, an entertaining ballad called G-O-L-F from Salt Lake City VA Recreational Therapist Dr. William Klinger, and closing remarks from UGF Board Member Randy Cassidy and Program Director Megan Huntsman.
The Utah Golf Foundation thanks Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club for their willingness to host VOC for the fourth year. The day was perfect, and the food was wonderful. Also, thank you to all VOC at Entrada participants. The UGF truly appreciates your sacrifices to defend our freedom. We look forward to seeing you in 2020!
