Veterans on Course Visits Logan Country Club

LOGAN, UTAH -- For the second consecutive season, the Utah Golf Foundation's Veterans on Course (VOC) program had the privilege of hosting an event at Logan Country Club. The participants were greeted by rows of American flags lining the clubhouse, which were generously provided by Logan native E.J. and his scout troop. In addition to setting up the American flags, E.J. coordinated one representative from his troop for each of the nine scramble holes to tend the American flags on the greens while the veterans putted. Doing this allowed E.J. to complete his Eagle Scout Service Project. The troop did a wonderful job, and the Utah Golf Foundation and Veterans on Course participants loved having them at the event.

As always, the event kicked off with an hour of lessons from PGA Professionals. Logan Country Club Assistant Professional Eric Skinner taught chipping, Logan River Head Professional Jeff John and Professional Dean Candland critiqued the full swing on the driving range, and Bob Betley, Senior PGA TOUR Champion, provided expert tips and instruction on the putting green.

The nine-hole scramble tournament was played on Logan Country Club's front nine. Multiple impressive scores were turned in, but the foursome of Kyle Brinkman, Carl Price, John Strong, and Jay Tucker earned the title of champions at seven-under-par 30. After two 30s were turned in, they won the scorecard playoff with a birdie on the second hole. Carl Price also claimed closest-to-the-hole on No. 2, and Jason Jeppesen earned the closest-to win on No. 4.

The Utah Golf Foundation truly appreciates the support of Logan Country Club, its staff, and its members, for allowing Veterans on Course to use its facilities. The day was beautiful, and the participants had a wonderful time. Thank you to everyone who attended the event. We are so grateful for your service and sacrifice for our great nation.
