River Oaks Hosts Seventh 2019 Veterans on Course Event
SANDY, UTAH -- River Oaks Golf Course in Sandy City was one of the original four courses that hosted Veterans on Course four years ago in its first season. Since 2016, River Oaks has not missed a season, for which the Utah Golf Foundation is incredibly grateful.
As always, the event filled to maximum capacity. Sixty military personnel of active or veteran status gathered for Veterans on Course (VOC) at River Oaks. The event kicked off with an hour of lessons with River Oaks Head Professional Mitch Stone alongside teaching pros Alex Grange, Seokwon Jeon, and Kenny You. The VOC participants spent thirty minutes on the putting green with Seokwon and Kenny and thirty minutes on the driving range with Mitch and Alex.

The event continued with the usual nine-hole scramble tournament. The players faced the front nine this year. Despite the heat and challenging track, the teams turned in low scores. It was team Jeff Garrison, James Lee, Barry Nygard, and Anthony Reeder that topped the field with an impressive seven-under 28. The foursome was bogey free and carded five birdies and an eagle on the par-5 13 to clinch the scramble title of champions.

Each Veterans on Course event includes closest-to-the-hole contests on all par-3s. Chad Gilbert earned the No. 18 closest-to win, while Bryant Jacobs claimed the win on No. 18.

The Utah Golf Foundation thanks River Oaks Golf Course for hosting Veterans on Course for the fourth consecutive year as well as the participants. We truly appreciate your support and service to America.
