VOC Participants Head to Tooele for Oquirrh Hills Event
TOOELE, UTAH -- Veterans on Course (VOC) participants from throughout Utah traveled to Oquirrh Hills Golf Course for the sixth VOC event of the 2019 season. The field included military personnel of active or veteran status, both male and female, from all military branches.
The event kicked off with an hour of lessons with Oquirrh Hills Head Professional Cody Lopez, Oquirrh Hills Assistant Professional Aden Saddis, Cody Castle, and Jake Holt. The VOC participants spent 30 minutes on the driving range perfecting their swings and 30 minutes competing in a putting contest on the practice green.

Oquirrh Hills was kind enough to host Veterans on Course last season as well. The VOC field played the front nine in 2018, and they were excited to play the back nine this year. Plenty of low scramble scores came in, but the threesome of Randy Cassidy, Keith Washburn, and Anthony Reeder took the cake in a scorecard playoff with their birdie on the par-4 No. 11. The team shot six-under 30 to earn the W.

As always closest to the hole contests were available for participation on both par 3s, numbers 13 and 15. Legally blind veteran Kevin Beus, who was once a scratch player prior to losing his sight, won BOTH closest-to contests!

The Utah Golf Foundation thanks Oquirrh Hills for hosting the event and the participants for supporting Veterans on Course and for their service to our great country.
