Veterans on Course Adds The Ridge to 2019 Lineup

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH -- The Ridge Golf Club hosted its first Veterans on Course event on Wednesday, June 5th. The Ridge is extremely supportive of military personnel and runs a veterans golf league on Mondays throughout the year, which the Utah Golf Foundation is proud to help financially support.

Head Golf Professional Bryant Boshard, 1st Assistant Professional Brian Abney, 2nd Assistant Professional Branden Ren, and Glenmoor Golf Course 1st Assistant Professional Cody Bassett taught the participants putting skills and driving techniques during the hour of lessons. The driving lesson even included a long drive contest, which was dominated by Tyler Montgomery with a 295-yard drive and Chad Gilbert with a 275-yard drive, both into the wind.

The nine-hole scramble tournament group of Chad Gilbert, Craig Sorensen, Ed Shipley, and Mckay Pettit earned the win at seven-under 29. Chad had quite the day; he also won the closest-to-the-pin contest on hole 7! August Koenig won the closest-to on hole 3.

During the after-play social, Lance Allred, the first legally deaf player in NBA history, addressed the participants about the importance of allowing yourself to feel the emotions necessary to cope with challenges. Lance opened up the floor to a Q&A following his speech, which many of the players took advantage of.

The Utah Golf Foundation thanks The Ridge Golf Club for hosting the event and Lance Allred for taking the time to speak to the participants. The UGF truly appreciates your support.
