Veterans on Course at Entrada Is Added to UGF 2016 Schedule
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – The Utah Golf Foundation’s Veterans on Course inaugural season kicked off on June 23rd at Davis Park Golf Course. The event was full weeks in advance and set the scene for the next two events, July 7th at River Oaks Golf Course and August 11th at Hobble Creek Golf Course.
Nearly 50 men and women of all military branches and ranks participated in each event and received lessons from volunteer PGA Professionals prior to playing nine holes and listening to a guest speaker during a social gathering.
Retired U.S. Air Force Major General Reese Nielsen spoke at Davis Park, past UGA President and Air Force Staff Sergeant Jim Harland was the River Oaks guest speaker, and retired U.S. Air Force Major General Pat Condon and retired U.S. Army Specialist Bryant Jacobs wrapped up the Northern Utah 2016 season at Hobble Creek with their encouraging words.
Due to the overwhelming success of the first three events, the Utah Golf Foundation has added one more event to the 2016 schedule. Veterans on Course at Entrada at Snow Canyon CC in St. George, Utah, will take place on November 15th. The field size will be capped at 60 participants. Registration is now open at utahgolffoundation.org.
The Vets Club Depot, a free program managed by The First Tee of Utah Executive Director Paul Pugmire offering donated equipment to veterans, was present at all three events and will be available at Veterans on Course at Entrada. The Vets Club Depot is located at The First Tee of Utah’s office location (680 West 3300 South Salt Lake City, Utah 84119). Equipment donations can be dropped off at The First Tee of Utah Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or the Golf The Round pro shop seven days a week between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
